Google released the beta version of its new search feature: Google Patents
"As part of Google’s mission to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful, we’re constantly working to expand the diversity of content we make available to our users. With Google Patent Search, you can now search the full text of the U.S. patent corpus and find patents that interest you."
I like the patent viewing interface; it's simple and intuitive. Very similar to the way it does with with book search. You can see images of different pages of any patent. Google does a good job in releasing new services which are well aligned with the overall company's direction. Yahoo should learn from Google about how to simply expand without spreading itself too thin. (see Peanut Butter Manifesto)
